UX Designer

Fall in love with the problem, not the solution

Full-time · Amsterdam

Dé VakantieDiscounter is the leading online travel agency in the Benelux, where our customers experience an easier and more comfortable way of booking their holiday. We are scaling up considerably to grow nationally and internationally in the coming years. Our website and underlying platform stand at the basis of its success, and we are looking for a UX Designer to help us realize our future growth plans and ambition.

Who are we looking for?

You are a UX Designer who always puts the user first, and gets excited by discovering user problems through research and by defining solutions within complex industries. You are a strong conceptual thinker, like to take initiative, and are looking for a challenge to make an impact within a scale-up environment.

What are you going to do?

As a UX Designer, you will be responsible for delighting our users by defining the experience on our website, digital touchpoints, and internal applications. You will do this by collaborating closely with an experienced UX Designer and joining our Product department.

You will be driving research activities to discover the needs and problems of our customers, to uncover commercial opportunities and to validate prototypes that have been created. You transform research findings - in combination with other sources of quantitative and qualitative data - into concepts, prototypes, and solutions.

You will be working on a wide range of design deliverables such as customer journey maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs to present the desired result. Also, you will be working on the introduction of our design system where we currently are at the starting point to modernize our UI and to set the foundation to scale our digital products. During the creation process, you will align with users and multiple stakeholders to incorporate feedback.

You will be working together with Product Owners and Conversion Specialists on what would be the best approach to make changes to ensure that we are reaching our goals. Besides, you work together with the development team to validate if your proposals are implemented according to the specifications that you have set.

The Product department aims to work with a strong agile mindset. We are focused on data-driven decision making, high quality, quick feedback cycles and always putting the customer first! You will play a key role in advocating this mindset within the team and wider organization.

What are we asking?

  • 5+ years of related work experience

  • A related degree is preferred but not required

  • Experience with design tools such as Figma and Sketch

  • Experience with user-centered design processes

  • Experience with usability testing and other research methods

  • Knowledge of design systems

  • Knowledge of agile and scrum methodologies

  • Affinity with ecommerce, travel, and technology

What do we offer?

We are working in a hybrid manner, partly from home and partly in our new office at the Herengracht in the heart of Amsterdam. This is a relaxed and inspiring working environment where you will work with a lot of freedom and responsibilities.

We are offering a competitive salary and travel allowance. In addition, you also benefit from the advantages of working for a travel company: Discounts on our holidays and a very extensive travel- and cancellation insurance are included.

It is important for us that you will continue to grow in your personal development. We will look together at which (online) courses, conferences, and events might be of interest to you. It is even more important that you are given the time to do your work well. We believe that we will both benefit from that.
