Our website and underlying platform stand at the basis of its success, and we are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to help us realize our future growth plans and ambitions.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Senior Web Engineer passionate about working with cutting-edge technologies on a large, high-traffic website. You should have a solid computer science background, with substantial experience in back-end development and infrastructure, yet possess a keen interest in front-end challenges. We value conceptual solid thinkers who take the initiative and are eager to make a significant impact within a scale-up environment.

What are you going to do?

As a Senior Web Engineer, you will become part of one of our cross-functional feature teams. Your role will involve working towards goals in a Kanban-like manner, collaborating closely with teammates, including full-stack developers, designers, testers, and a product owner.

Your primary focus will be on the front end. You should be an expert in TypeScript and React.js, enjoy working with Next.js, proficient in Node.js backend development, and derive satisfaction from developing features and solutions for our customer-facing website. You will be crucial in setting best practices and finding robust solutions for web challenges with the website team.

We are committed to continuous improvement, reducing inefficiencies, and enhancing our effectiveness. Your feedback and vision will be invaluable in this process. As a flat and transparent organization, we take your opinions seriously.

You are a quick learner and a self-starter. Our modern technology stack is up-to-date and runs on GCP, including TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, Nodejs, and an internal API layer utilizing Scala with ZIO. We dedicate 10% of our time to exploring new ideas to foster innovation and creativity.

Your skills and qualifications

• Over five years of experience with TypeScript and React.js.

• Solid understanding of web challenges, CDNs, CMS, analytics, networking, and cybersecurity.

• Proficient in DevOps practices, with Terraform experience on cloud platforms like GCP.

• Backend development experience in Node.js and database experience with PostgreSQL.

• A master's degree in computer science.

We consider it a plus if you have experience with the following: 

• You have worked on high-traffic consumer websites.

• You have experience with implementing and building design systems.

• You are passionate about and have experience with test automation.

• You are familiar with A/B testing.

• You are familiar with user tracking for websites.

• You have experience in the travel industry.

• Open-Source contributions are important to you.
